Ashwa Poojan (October 01, 2006) is really the culminating event of the Navratri festivities, where the Shakti (power) of both Ma Durga, the goddess of the festival and Ashwa (horse), the loyal companion of the Rajput is invoked. Considering the intimate bond between the Rajput and his horse, it is not surprising that a day has been especially marked in the Hindu calendar to commemorate the usefulness of the horse and its contribution to the survival of the Rajput community.

A vital part of Living Heritage, Ashwa Poojan is the traditional reverential acknowledgement of the empathy between a Rajput and his horse, continued since the ancient past, still practiced and followed by the present 76th custodian, Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar.
