Jagriti Heritage Exhibition
Timings: 10 am to 8 pm; open on all days.
Jagriti is a 'heritage exhibition onsite' at Jagmandir, the island palace on Lake Pichola. It is a manifestation of the multilayered research undertaken as part of 'The City within a City' project in 2001-02. Rare paintings, old photographs, maps and contemporary architectural drawings have been brought together to facilitate the understanding of how Jagmandir evolved from the seventeenth century onwards and continues to grow in the twenty-first century. Jagriti is located on the ground floor of Gol Mahal. The first section, exhibited in the colonnaded veranda, is devoted to the five Maharanas-Maharana Karan Singh (1620-28), Maharana Jagat Singh I (1628-52), Maharana Sangram Singh II (1710-34), Maharana Bhupal Singh (1930-55) and Shri Arvind Singh Mewar (1984- ) - who contributed to the development of Jagmandir. The posters in the inner chamber were created from old photographs of Jagmandir and Gol Mahal, retrieved from old albums in the Maharana Mewar Special Library.

The Royal House of Mewar has recently acquired eight setting of the world-famous Flora Danica porcelain collection. Flora Danica porcelain has a history of over 200 glorious years. The porcelain dinner service pieces are lavishly decorated and are considered status symbols among the European Royal Families. According to legend, the original Flora Danica dinner service was made as a gift for Catherine The Great of Russia. The Empress died before its completion in 1796 and it became part of the Danish Royal Family's heritage. Of the 1,802 pieces of the original Flora Danica service, 1,530 have survived and selected pieces are still used on occasions at the Amalienborg Palace, residence of the Danish royal family at Copenhagen. There is a Flora Danica collection on public display at Windsor Castle in England. Flora Danica pieces have the name of the plant depicted, the number of the print in roman numerals, the number of the volume and the factory's characteristic hallmark (three blue wavy lines) inscribed at the base. The Royal House of Mewar has acquired this collection of Flora Danica from a royal household.
