‘The Legacy of Honour’ is the spectacular sound and light show
at the City Palace complex, Udaipur;
Marking yet another achievement of HRH Group of Hotels
in the field of heritage hospitality
India's first light and sound show in the private sector 'The Legacy of Honour' was inaugurated on 23rd January, 2005 at Manek Chowk, City Palace complex in Udaipur recently. The show is an endeavour of the HRH Group of Hotels, Udaipur, to offer part of Mewar's ancient culture in a manner that is absolutely in tune with sensitivity to ecology. The show was inaugurated by the former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, Mr Arvind Dave.
Visitors to Udaipur will be encouraged to spend an extra night in the city to experience the show thus generating more revenue for the city.
Jitendra Singh Rathore, president- HRH Group of Hotels, said the Mewar light and sound show at a cost of Rs 2 crore is yet another landmark event of the HRH Group. The show and the music are based on authentically available records unfolding a saga of 1500 years of 'Mewar in mere 57 minutes. The show pitched against the backdrop of the marvellous City Palace uses the latest DMX protocols.
Highlighting the historic concept of the Mewar sound and light show, Trilok Sharma, secretary of Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF), said that this show is a journey through the glorious and celebrated history of Mewar for last 1500 years.
This arrangement with HRH Group will generate revenue for the MMCF, thereby contributing towards fulfilling the objectives of the foundation. The agreement contemplates a revenue sharing package in an agreed ratio. While the venue has been provided by the MMCF, the cost of producing the show has been borne entirely by HRH Group of Hotels.
The City Palace of Udaipur, which is under the aegis of MMCF, has been chosen for the location to host the show because it has been witness to the changing times of Mewar's intense and extraordinary history with its incredible trials and tribulations. The backdrop of the Mardana Mahal provides a perfect ambience for the show. The script of the 'The Legacy of Honour' has been penned by the Princess Devki Singh of Kapurthala.
