Obituary

Shri Kapoor Chandra

(1910 -2017)

Shri Kapoor Chandra, a veteran member of Bhupal Infantry (Mewar State Forces) whose association with the Mewar family is from five generations. He accompanied by his son Shri Jagdish Chandra called on Shriji at Shambhu Niwas Palace, Udaipur on 18th October 2017.

Shri Kapoor Chandra, son of Late Shri Kishan Lal and Late Smt. Rupa Bai was born in 1910 at Goverdhan Vilas Village, Udaipur. He was selected for the Bhupal Infantry by Maharana Bhopal Singh ji during the II World War (1939-1945). He was a sent for a formal training to Nagpur (Kamthi) for one and half month thereafter he went with the Infantry from Karachi Sea Port to different countries via sea route holding at Port of Aden (Yemen), Port of Sudan, Suez Canal Egypt, Syria and Cyprus during the Second World War.

After the independence of India he returned back to India in 1947 and their Infantry was sent for a peace keeping mission to Chaman, Kabul and Kandhar.

He was also part of the 3 day military operation against the Nizam of Hyderabad as part of the Unification of Indian Union took on by Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. He served for the infantry from 17-03-1941 to 09-06-1948.

After the retirement from army he started serving Maharana Bhagwat Singh Ji and later he was granted pension from the palace. He has left behind four children Shri Jagdish Chandra, Shri Narayanlal, Smt. Geeta, Smt. Pushpa and their family members. The family is still serving in the Palace, Udaipur.

Our deepest, heartfelt condolence to the family and all others saddened by his demise on 22nd November 2017.
