Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur at IATO
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) held its annual conference at the B. M. Birla Auditorium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. More than 1500 delegates attended the three day event. Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur Executive General Manager, Shiv Niwas Palace and Fateh Prakash Palace, attended the event. She was accompanied by colleagues, Mr. Jitendra Singh Rathore, President: HRH Group of Hotels, Ms. Vasudha Sondhi: Vice President Sales, Mr. Kirpal Singh: Senior Manager Sales, Mr. Sanjay Nischal: Manager Sales and Marketing, Jaipur and Ms. Jyoti Jasol: Manager Events. Princess Padmaja discussed opportunities of developing tourism in Rajasthan with key Government officials and as well as tour operators and members of the IATO committee.

Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur visited Kolkata to attend 'Samman Samaroh', an event organised by Rajasthan Foundation, Kolkata on September 20, 2006.
The occasion was attended by a number of distinguished guests including President of the Rajasthan Foundation, Kolkata, Shri Harimohan Bangur; The Honorable Governor of West Bengal, His Excellency Shri Gopal Krishna Gandhi; The Honorable Governor of Assam, His Excellency Lieutenant General Ajay Singh; The Honorable Mayor KMC, Shri Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya; The Honorable Speaker from the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Shri Hashim Abdul Halim; and The Honorable MLA Shri Dinesh Bajaj and Secretary, Rajasthan Foundation, Kolkata, Shri Sundeep Bhutoria.
In her speech, Princess Padmaja said that the Rajasthan Foundation had always been at the fore-front of a movement to spread development, women up-liftment, culture and traditions. She commended the Kolkata Chapter for their efforts in this regard. Princess Padmaja recalled that the State of Rajasthan is still one of the most visited states in India. Its success, she said, is due to the dedication and commitment of the people of Rajasthan.

A walk through History
The Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF) Udaipur recently launched an English language edition of a guide book - "A walk through History - an official guide book on The City Palace Museum, Udaipur". The 82 pages covers the history of the City Palace Museum, a genealogical map of The House of Mewar, heritage preservations, MMCF aims, objectives and activities as well as a collection of photographs. This is the first official guide book on the City Palace Museum. Its objective is to highlight and explain the important historical facts and anecdotes related to the Palaces, Courtyards and Exhibits in the Museum. The book is a good example of documentation and will also be helpful to scholars researching the culture of Mewar.
The forward of the book is written by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Chairman and Managing Trustee, MMCF and the preface by Shri Trilok C Sharma, Secretary Trusts. The author of the book is Thakur Sahib Bhupendra Singh of Auwa, Chief Administrator - City Palace Museum.

UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation 2006

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation have been established to recognise the achievement of individuals and organisations within the private sector, as well as public-private initiatives, in the successful restoration of structures of heritage value. The Lake Palace Hotels and Motels Pvt. Ltd. submitted an application to support its restoration project on the island of Jagmandir, lake Pichola.
The UNESCO Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and Pacific has announced the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for 2006. Jagmandir was amongst the top thirty six finalists from eleven countries across the Asia-Pacific and was in the top six at National level. Although the project was not selected for an award, the Jagmandir project received international recognition for its commitment to local heritage conservation.
