In the plenary session, speakers provided information on the initiatives taken by UNESCO on conservation programmes in India and the resourcefulness of conservation workshops and such programmes. The session also included a guided tour of the City Palace Museum and a viewing of The Legacy of Honour, The Mewar Sound and Light Show.
The second day of the workshop on the 29th November began with a visit to the Maharana Mewar Research Institute. This was followed by a technical session at Bhupal Prakash, The Zenana Mahal. Mr. K K Gupta talked about the deterioration and subsequent conservation possibilities relating to archival material housed in the Institute. This was followed by a practical session given by Mr. R C Jain, Mr. Umesh Ahuja, Mr. K K Gupta and Mr. Mahesh Kumar. The session concluded with a visit to Shilpgram, West Zone Culture Center, Udaipur.
On November 30 the workshop started with a technical session by Mr. A S Bisht that took place at Bhupal Prakash, The Zenana Mahal during which conservation techniques of paintings were discussed. Dr. S P Singh and Mrs. Bangaroo also talked about conservation techniques used in the painting of Frescos. On December 01discussions took place on the maintenance of historic structures in which Prof Ajay Khare and Dr. Rachna Khare, from BIT Mesra Ranchi took part. A visit to the temples of Ranakpur took place on the final day of the Workshop

HRH Group of hotels participated at the WTM that took place in London from the 6th to 9th November 2006 at Excel, a major Exhibition Centre in the City. Princess Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur, Executive Manager of Shiv Niwas Palace and Fateh Prakash Palace; Mr. Kunal Singh, Manager Sales, Udaipur and Ms. Sabina Bailey, Public Affairs and Marketing Consultant, London office, represented the HRH Group in the India Pavilion. The WTM, an annual event is attended by some 6,500 exhibitors and 45,000 visitors, providing the sales and marketing team with an opportunity to meet top international and domestic tour operators and buyers in the travel industry.

 
 

Tourism is the world's largest industry, with an annual revenue of almost $500 billion. It is a fast growing industry with airline arrivals expected to double by 2010. Leisure is estimated to account for 75 per cent of all international travel. Domestic tourism is generally thought to be up to five times that of international arrivals. The WTO puts global revenue from tourism in 2003 at US $ 514.4 billion. Globally, tourism accounts for roughly 35 per cent of exports of services.
According to WTTC, India will rank sixth worldwide in terms of real growth of international tourist expenditure in the forthcoming decade (2006 to 2015) and Indian tourism is expect to grow at an impressive 8.6 per cent for the same period. At the event, the 'Incredible India campaign' was awarded the 'PATA Gold Award'.
