Fateh Prakash Palace
Location
On the eastern shores of the picturesque Lake Pichola, Fateh Prakash Palace appears as a fairy tale edifice. Constructed in the early twentieth century during the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh, the Palace was originally built as an entertainment venue exclusively for royal functions. The interiors are decorated with miniature paintings and portraits, personal artifacts as well as the legendary armory of the Mewar dynasty.
In the early nineteen nineties the Palace was converted into a Grand Heritage Hotel.
Accommodation
Fateh Prakash Palace has 5 Regal lake-facing suites and 6 Regal suites. The suites are decorated with original paintings and period furniture from the toshakhanas (royal storerooms) of Mewar making them unique and highly individualistic.
The rooms and bathrooms have been newly refurbished.
A 70 ton air-conditioning plant was recently installed to ensure maximum comfort.
The Dovecote a newer addition to the Palace sits at the edge of the Lake Pichola and its 21 suites afford stunning views of the lake, Jagmandir, Jagniwas, Sajjangarh Palace and the surrounding Aravali hills.
Fine dining
The Gallery Restaurant with large arched windows looks out on to the Lake Pichola, the island palaces and the ancient Aravali mountain range.
The Sunset Terrace offers dramatic views of some of Udaipur's most famous sites. Recently remodeled, the outdoor restaurant offers a fresh menu to choose from whilst taking in the magnificent natural scenery. |
The Paantya restaurant and Panera Bar at Shiv Niwas Palace are also open to guests residing at Fateh Prakash Palace.
Other Facilities
The hotel is well known for its 'in demand', venues and state-of-the-art facilities to host workshops, conferences and seminars.
The Durbar Hall magnificent with crystal chandeliers and velvet canopies is decorated with original portraits and a splendid display of the Mewar armory. It is an ideal venue for large gatherings.
Jagmandir, a private island palace on lake Pichola itself also acts as a private venue to host big audiences. The hotel can, in addition, organize theme dinners at various heritage venues within The Palace Complex. The Sunset Terrace is yet another picturesque venue to host outdoor colloquiums.
The Hotel also houses a tremendous crystal collection at the Crystal Gallery Museum as well as the Mewar Collection of the celebrated Danish Flora Danica porcelain.
Shopping, Sightseeing and Excursions
As Fateh Prakash Palace is located in the centre of Udaipur, city sights abound - heritage Museums, Lake Palaces, and religious destinations. The hotel can organize day tours and trips to Kumbhalgarh, Chittor Fort and Mount Abu. The historic battle site of Haldighati is also an easy drive outside Udaipur city. Udaipur furthermore has a proud heritage as a centre for crafts and performing arts. It is famous for its school of miniature paintings in the Rajput - Mughal style. These paintings, meticulous in detailing and delicate in brushwork, are done on cloth, marble, wood, paper and even leaves.
