Karni Bhawan Palace

Location
Built in the Art Deco style of the 1940's, Karni Bhawan was the private residence of His late Highness Maharaja Karni Singhji of Bikaner. Spread over acres of land, this intimate property has a very spacious and distinct design, which marks its distinctive style of architecture and decor. Old photographs of the Royal Houses of Bikaner and Mewar are displayed in some of the rooms
The Palace is also a convenient overnight stopover on the way to Gajner and Nagaur known for its grand Mosques, painted Palaces, annual cattle fair and dance and folk festivals. En route to Jaisalmer, the Karni Bhawan Palace not only provides an excellent overnight respite but also the opportunity to explore the unspoilt city of Bikaner.

Ten well-decorated and comfortable suites and two spacious rooms look out onto sprawling acreage, which surrounds this private hotel. The property is also well suited to host large audiences such as receptions and weddings.

Dining
The elegant Maiquada Bar stocks a selection of international and Indian liquor. Authentic Marwari cuisine is served at the Manwar restaurant as well as continental meals.

Shopping and Excursions
The Palace's ideal location makes it practical to visit the Lallgarh Palace Museum, Junagarh Fort, the old Jain Temples, Bhadreshwar Temple, Lakshminath Temple, Devikund Sagar, comprising major cenotaphs traditionally known as Chattris, and also Asia's biggest Camel Breeding Farm, 10 Kms south of the city. The Temple of Goddess Karni, the family deity of the House of Bikaner, is at Deshnok, half an hours' drive from Bikaner. The Karni Mata Temple at Deshnoke is popularly known as the Rat Temple. The Junagarh Fort and The Sadul Museum at the Lalgarh Palace are also recommended.

Located in this small village, Gajner Palace built on the embankment of a lake by HH Maharana Sir Ganga SinghJi of Bikaner was used as a hunting resort by the former Maharajas and visiting British dignitaries during the days of the Raj.
