Painting Exhibition
A painting exhibition 'Palaces – Princes – Puppets and Dances' by Anup Rej was inaugurated by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur at 'Kala Vithi', Bagore ki Haveli, Gangaur Ghat, Udaipur on 16th January 2008. Mr. Rej an Indian physicist, philosopher, poet and artiest now lives in Norway. Guests of Honour for the inauguration ceremony included Shri Jagat Mehta, Former Foreign Secretary and Dr. Devendra Kumar Dhodhawat, IAS, Director ,West Zone Culture Centre, Udaipur. The exhibition remained open to visitors until 24th January 2008.

The marriage took place between Neha, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Vijay Kumar Jain and Nitin, son of Mr. & Mrs. Devendra Jain at B-5, Prithviraj Marg, C Scheme, Jaipur on 19th January 2008. Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur attended the wedding ceremony. |
VIP Visits to Udaipur
Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav
Central Minister of The Railway, Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav visited Udaipur on 8th January 2008 accompanied by his wife Ms. Rabri Devi, four daughters and son. He visited The City Palace Museum and The Crystal Gallery, Fateh Prakash Palace accompanied by Ms. Kiran Maheswari. Mr. Yadav expressed delight at having the opportunity to view the unique collection of crystal furniture at the Crystal Gallery and marvelled at the intricate glass mosaic work at the Mor Chowk. Mr Yadav reminded his entourage that even today we must remember the debt we owe to the legendry Rana Pratap and his descendents, whose passion for art and architecture created The City Palace; nor the tremendous effort and commitment that is required in 2008 by the present 76th custodian of the House of Mewar to preserve this rich and unique heritage.

Retired Indian cricket team coach Mr. Gregg Chappal stays at Shiv Niwas Palace
Accompanied by his family Mr. Gregg Chappal visited Udaipur on 7th January 2008 where they stayed at Shiv Niwas Palace. In the evening the family took a boat ride on Lake Pichola visiting the palace island of Jagmandir. They also visited the Crystal Gallery, Fateh Prakash Palace.
Madonna visits The Crystal Gallery, Fateh Prakash Palace, Udaipur
During her tour of Rajasthan, the internationally celebrated singer, Madonna accompanied by her husband Guy Ritchie and children stayed in Udaipur. They visited the Crystal Gallery, Fateh Prakash Palace. Madonna told those accompanying her that she was dazzled by the diversity and splendour of collection.
